About JCC
Message from the President
The 58th President Mr. Takeo Kato
The Japanese Chamber of Commerce, Bangkok (JCC) is an organization with over 60 years of history since it was founded in 1954. We are one of the largest overseas Japanese chamber of commerce in the world with 1,651 member companies (as of April 1, 2022).
We develop extensive activities which contribute to not only trade, investment, and economic development between Japan and Thailand, but also social contribution projects—such as cultural exchanges in both countries and educational supports.
Due to the COVID-19’s repercussions, economic activities have been restricted to a large extent and human movement has been limited for a long time, though emigration and immigration restrictions have started to be gradually eased in many countries. Traffic between Japan and Thailand mainly for business purposes has begun to be more vibrant.
As for JCC’s activities, we have finally begun preparations to hold meet-and-greets and events with many attendees.
Under such circumstances, the JCC is planning to develop our activities this year focusing on satisfying the needs of our member companies.
Through a questionnaire carried out on our member companies last year, we received many requests for ‘providing a large variety of business information’ and ‘holding exchange and networking activities’.
Although we will closely watch the Thai government’s future preventive measures against COVID infections, we will enthusiastically promote exchange activities which were unpermitted to be held up to now, and provide various business information to our member companies.
Also, we will eagerly tackle the issue of improving the business environment of Japanese companies in Thailand.
The JCC has been holding discussions and negotiations with the Thai government on many types of subjects and issues, specifically taxation, labor, and customs.
Last year we established the BCG (Bio-Circular-Green) Business Committee in the JCC to commence actions in response to Thailand’s BCG strategy.
We are striving for the wide progression of business support for Japanese companies in Thailand through our zealous commitment to handling various upcoming solutions this year as well.
Social contribution activities to Thailand will also continue to be carried out.
In order to express our gratitude for Thai society’s warm understanding of Japanese companies’ business activities, we are committed to granting scholarships for local University students, presenting henhouses to local elementary schools, and holding lectures in the Thai universities financially maintained by the JCC. In addition, we will make a concerted effort to work on our activities, including cooperation of COVID preventive measures in Thailand.
We as the JCC are intending to advance our positive activities to meet our member companies’ expectations hereafter.
We would like to kindly ask your warm support and active participation in JCC’s activities.
